The day started out cloudy with light showers. Upon arrival at Cedar Creek Marina in Bayville, New Jersey to check in with Barnegat Bay Sailing School the rain stopped. Twelve adventurous sailors, including two children, began checking out our boats. We divided up into 6 on each boat (30’ Catalina and 37’ Pearson) and boarded as a breeze started to blow.

With temperatures in the high 70’s, the sun playing peek-a-boo all day, and the wind picking up as we headed out to the bay, we had a great afternoon of sailing. Our crews enjoyed their time with Capt. Mike and Capt. Peter who in turn provided us with expert sailing information, good sailing stories, along with snacks and water as we cruised Barnegat Bay. Sailing without a destination, just chasing the wind was an adjustment for some of us….but we soon adapted and enjoyed the freedom.

Jitender and Rupinder’s children, Veer and Mehr, were the most enthusiastic sailors that day, but not by much. Eleanor was in awe that we had such good sailing so close to home and everyone vowed to be back sooner, rather than later.
