On The Water Training |
This year’s OWT will provide the traditional
exercises in line handling
while leaving and approaching T-docks, slips and moorings; the traditional
sessions. New this year will be exercises in putting together a raft and
separating it, as well as anchoring techniques. Additionally, a seminar
on effective communication and teamwork will be introduced to the skipper
and first mate teams. Selected chapters and pages from
“At The Helm: Business Lessons for Navigating Rough Waters,”
by Peter Isler and Peter Economy, and
“Shackleton’s Way: Leadership Lessons from the Great Antarctic Explorer”
by Margot Morrell and
Stephanie Capparell will be used in conjunction with this portion of the two day seminar.

Communication Seminar
The books will be part of this event and are included in the course fee. The cost of the trip is $275.00 per person. This price covers charter fees, insurance and two books. Food, fuel, and other incidental expenses are additional and will be handled by each boat’s crew. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and the full amount is required at signup. Please make your check payable to The Sailing Club, Inc. and mail it, along with your completed reservation form, to Dave Steward, at the address below.
