On the Water Training Havre de Grace, MD MAY 5 - 6, 2007

This is the weekend you’ve been waiting for. A chance to get back on the water and to hone the skills you haven’t had a chance to use since last season. Last year's event was a sell out so don’t wait to get on board. This year’s OWT will provide the traditional exercises in line handling while leaving and approaching docks, slips and moorings; rafting and separating, as well as anchoring techniques. Additionally, a seminar on effective communication along with reviews of boating skills, and teamwork. Tentative agenda: Friday May 4, boarding around 4PM if boats are available. Day 1, Saturday May 5, 8-10:00 AM, what is expected; wind, current, lines, skills needed, weather (lightning), communication, reefing, knots. Day 1, Saturday May 5, 10:00 to 16:30, docking exercises. Communication. Day 2, Sunday May 6, 08:30 to 15:30 anchoring and rafting exercises, MOB’s, Life sling, more communication. The cost of the trip is $275.00 per person. This price covers charter fees & insurance. Food, fuel, and other incidental expenses are additional and will be handled by each boat’s crew. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and the full amount is required at signup. Please make your check payable to The Sailing Club, Inc. and mail it, along with your completed reservation form, to Jeff Hamer, at the address below. A pre-trip meeting will be held at a time and place to be announced. All crewmembers should make every effort to attend in order to meet your crewmates, plan your meals, and make travel plans.
