Trade eight days of the dark, cold, depressing winter weather for sunny 80-degree days, sparkling water, outdoor dining, warm trade winds and great adventure on a Caribbean Sailing Club trip out of St. Martin, and also visiting Anguilla and St. Barts. The cruising guide describes St. Martin as “blessed with a multitude of superb white sand beaches, backed by pleasantly scenic hills.” It also boasts some of the best French restaurants in the islands. Anguilla, surrounded by spectacular white sand beaches and banks of coral, and St. Barts, surrounded by rich people, offer opportunities for great sailing and diversity of activities.

The trip will start with a pre-board on Friday evening, January 23, 2009.  We will then have almost 8 days of fun, returning on Saturday, January 31st in time to catch the flight home. Two 41 foot catamarans and one 44 foot monohull have been reserved from Sunsail at their base in Oyster Pond on the east side of the island.

Pre board at Oyster Pond, stow gear, check provisions, etc. and start the party at the Dinghy Dock, a great outdoor pub.

Day 1 – Off to Grande Case on the French side of the island.Grande Case is essentially a one street town lined with restaurants, quaint houses and shops.

Day 2 & 3 – Sail 16 miles north to Anguilla and Johno’s bar (in all “best bars in the Caribbean” surveys, Johno’s is always ranked in the top ten) and a truly excellent outdoor jazz session with first class local musicians. The next day, a few miles north, we'll anchor at Crocus Bay, a very picturesque harbor with great snorkeling.

Day 4 - Back to Marigot, the capital of St. Martin's French side for some excellent restaurants and some unique shopping.

Day 5 & 6 – On to St. Bart’s, probably the most appealing island in the whole Caribbean. Jimmy Buffet used to own a small restaurant there and in his book “A Pirate Looks At Fifty”, said he wrote his famous Cheeseburger in Paradise because of a St Barts bar, Le Select. The cheeseburgers there are great, and the whole island is close to paradise. This would be a good opportunity to rent some cars or motorbikes and tour this very picturesque place. St Barts also features some great beaches and outstanding shopping.

7 – We will pick up moorings at Columbier Bay on the north end of St. Bart’s (great beach, snorkeling and last night party spot).

Day 8 – A short, two-hour sail back to Oyster Pond will give us plenty of time to pack and get to the airport for the flight home.
