The Virgin Islands are one of the best, if not the best, sailing areas in the World. Warm temperatures, coupled with constant trade winds, make the beautiful islands a fantastic place to spend a winter vacation.

Tuesday Feb. 11: Our trip will start on Tuesday Feb. 11 leaving the US and making our way to Road Town, Tortola, BVI. You can fly to Puerto Rico and take a puddle jumper to Road Town, or you can fly to St. Thomas and take the ferry to Road Town. We will board the boats that evening and after cocktails, we will explore the town and select a restaurant to eat.

Wednesday Feb. 12: After chart orientation, boat check out and final provisioning, we will depart for a short sail to Great Harbor on Peter Island 5nm. After anchoring we can explore the island on foot, snorkel or just relax. This is a perfect place to grill some steaks or chicken and watch the beautiful night sky full of stars.

Thursday Feb. 13: Leaving early, we will make our way to The Baths on Virgin Gorda, 9nm, where we will take a mooring so we can explore this marvel of nature and snorkel amongst the big boulders. After lunch, we sail North to the Bitter End in Gorda Sound, 12nm, where we will drop anchor for the night. We will have the choice of eating ashore or aboard.

Friday Feb. 14: A lay day. We snorkel Colquhoun reef and explore the area. We can have lunch at the Fat Virgin Café on Biras Creek and cocktails and dinner at the Saba Rock resort.

Saturday Feb. 15: We head North to Anegada to do some great snorkeling and have the best grilled lobster, with lots of garlic, you will ever taste.

Sunday Feb. 16: We sail South to Jost Van Dyke, 28nm, and Foxies in Great Harbor. After dinner aboard, we can go ashore and dance the night away.

Monday Feb. 17: We have a short sail to Maho Bay, 6nm, on St. John, were we can take the regular taxi from the Maho Bay campground to Cruz Bay with its great shops and restaurants. You can also rent a moped and explore the island. This is another great location to use the grill.

Tuesday Feb. 18: We sail to The Bight on Norman Island, 12nm, where we will take a mooring. We can then dinghy to the cave to explore and snorkel. Tonight we celebrate our trip on the Willie T, famous as a floating restaurant and party place. Whatever happens at the Willie T will not stay there.

Wednesday Feb. 19: We have a leisurely sail back to Road Town and the end of our trip. We can have dinner onboard (leftovers) or eat ashore.

Thursday Feb. 20: We fly home.

A pre-trip meeting will be held at a time and place to be announced. All crewmembers should make every effort to attend in order to meet your crewmates, plan your meals and discuss travel plans.

The cost of the trip is $1300.00 per person (Skippers - $707.00).   The price includes charter fees, boat insurance and fuel.   Provisioning, airfare, and other incidentals are additional and will be handled by each boat’s crew.   A $300.00 deposit and Release of Liability and Zero Tolerance Form must accompany your reservation form.   Please make your check payable to The Sailing Club, Inc. and mail it, along with your completed reservation and Release forms, to Julio Menendez at the address below.   Reservations will be processed on a first-come, first served basis.   The balance of $1000.00 will be due November 10, 2013.

NOTE:  A separate cancellation policy applies to this trip.  A full refund will be supplied if cancellation is received by the Trip Leader before November 9, 2013.  Any cancellations after that date will forfeit the $300 original deposit, unless a replacement is found. Travel Insurance is NOT included in the trip price. Confirmed particpants should make their own decisions regarding insurance that would provide coverage appropriate to their needs, and that they feel best protects them in their individual situations.  One useful resource for comparing plans is www.insuremytrip.com. Many airlines also offer low priced travel insurance if purchased at the time airfare is purchased. As always, read all policy conditions carefully.

Please note that sailing conditions are dynamic, that your safety, and that of your crewmates, depends on your good physical health and agility.
