Lighthouses, sailing with friends, and seafood!
Three of the most memorable things about summer at the Jersey shore are lighthouses, a sail around Barnegat Bay, and seafood lunch with friends! Due to increased demand, we've just added this family-friendly trip. Our light day of sailing includes instruction and navigation by local skippers as we've partnered with Barnegat Bay Sailing School (BBSS) located at Cedar Creek Marina, 100 Harbor Inn Rd., Bayville, NJ. A comprehensive cost of $50 includes your place on one of two locally-owned monohulls (a 30' Catalina and a 37' Pearson), beverages, and snacks while underway. While cruising around the bay you will have the opportunity to raise sails, take the helm, learn about the bay and practice tacking from these experienced local skippers. Please plan to arrive by 9:30 am for a 10:00 am departure. We anticipate returning to the marina about 12:30 pm and then head over to a nearby restaurant for a post-sail lunch. The lunch is optional, and is not included in the trip price. Whether you're an experienced skipper, or have never set foot on a boat, this will be a great opportunity to socialize, learn new techniques, hear new stories, and just have a few laughs. Please note: Children 6 and older are welcome and encouraged! All children under 13 will be required to wear a life jacket while on the boat. Life jackets will be supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own. Lunch will be at The Cove Waterfront Bar & Grill just down the road from the marina. There is a patio and live music, if we stay late enough. Please make your check payable to The Sailing Club, Inc. and mail it, along with your completed reservation and Release form, to Mary Ann Gordon at the address on the form. Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Reservations must be received by July 1st. However, if your schedule changes at the last minute and you'd like to join us, please reach out to me as we may be able to squeeze you in. Please note that sailing conditions are dynamic, that your safety, and that of your crewmates, depends on your good physical health and agility. |
