Welcome to the 2025-2026 Sailing Club Season
Welcome to the 2025-2026 Sailing Club season, our 42nd year as The Sailing Club. We welcome back our veteran members and extend a warm welcome to our new members and those considering membership.
The Sailing Club looks forward to some very exciting trips this year and we hope you will be part of the fun.
Before I review this year’s trips, I hope you’ve had a chance to look at our new website (still at www.thesailingclub.org). On behalf of the Club, I want to say thank you to the website team, led by Mia McCroskey, Joel Mack and Jan Cornelius for their many of hours of work that enabled this new website to happen.
Our year got an early start with CPR/First Aid training and will continue with On Land Training and then onto On-Water training. Once we have our skills refreshed, we have some great trips in store. Our first trip will be to the Chesapeake for a summer solstice weekend, followed by a week-long trip to beautiful Lake Huron in August. September will find us back on the Chesapeake, only this time on the Chester River. Finally, we will finish the season with a trip to Key West and the Florida Keys. You will find more details in your trip packet and on the new website.
These are the trips planned as of now. Trips may be added any time during season, and anyone can propose a trip. It takes time to get from the thinking stage to the approved trip stage, so if you have an idea, please contact any board member without haste!
Please read this Membership Package carefully. It includes:
A schedule of the 2025 trips with full descriptions, reservation and release forms.
General information about the Club, its practices and policies for participation.
Explanations of our trip sign-up procedures and cancellation policies.
2025 season Membership Form (last two pages) for the April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026 season. Membership is required for all club activities. Please complete both pages and mail them with your check to the Membership Secretary, Joel Mack, at the address on the form.
It has been my pleasure serving as your Commodore for the past two years. The job would be meaningless
without your participation, and I thank you for that. I wish you an enjoyable 2025 sailing season and hope you have the opportunity to share our secret with friends, and encourage them to try sailing with us. Finally, as I conclude my term as commodore, I want to thank everyone for their support and help. This job has been very gratifying, and I will miss it.
I want to say to our next Commodore, Jan Cornelius, fair winds and following seas, and best wishes for a successful term. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
